What is VAGO?

The Victorian Auditor-General's Office, or VAGO, a passionate team of 225 people led by Auditor-General Andrew Greaves.  
Our role is to evaluate how well the public sector is using resources to provide services to the people of Victoria. We do this by engaging with and examining government agencies, and we report to Parliament and the public on what we find.  
We also aim to empower the public sector to do things better, and provide detailed recommendations where we see issues or opportunities to improve. At VAGO we see the bigger picture, ask the tough questions and work to create a meaningful impact.  

Why we audit

State and local government bodies spend over $90 billion of public money each year to deliver a range of services for all Victorians. We help maintain public trust in the government by enhancing the transparency of, and accountability for, public sector agencies’ financial and operational performance. 

About Parliamentary Reports and Services

Our Parliamentary Reports and Services (PRS) division conduct performance engagements to assess if agencies are meeting their aims effectively, using their resources economically and efficiently and complying with legislation. 

About you and our Graduate Program

Our 12-month graduate program is the perfect steppingstone to achieving your professional aspirations, providing you with hands-on experience, expert mentorship, and a strong foundation in performance auditing. 
As a VAGO Graduate, you will play a key role in delivering performance audits while participating in a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the technical knowledge and confidence to succeed. You will collaborate with experienced professionals and key stakeholders, both internally and client-facing, gaining invaluable skills along the way.

What you have studied

If you’ve graduated between 2024 and 2026, we’d love to hear from you. 
But more than that—we’re looking for motivated individuals ready to grow, learn, and contribute to a workplace that values respect, collaboration, accountability, innovation, integrity, and impact. 
Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Business, Law, Accounting, Arts, Public Policy, Science and Statistics or similar.

Life after the graduate program

After your 12 months as a Parliamentary Reports and Services graduate, the opportunities continue! Subject to performance, you will have a permanent ongoing Analyst role in the PRS division, and we will continue to support your career development and offer study assistance for further education.
